Who are PETA?
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters.
PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of rodents, birds, and other animals who are often considered “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals.
PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.
What is PZ Cussons UK Ltd Membership of PETA?
We have joined PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Program in Jan 2020. This means that all the brands operating under PZ Cussons UK are certified as being cruelty free. These brands include: Original Source, Imperial Leather, Carex, Bayley’s of Bond Street and Pure.
How does PZ Cussons UK Ltd test its products?
As a UK based manufacturer and marketing company, we are obligated under the EU regulations not to test products or use ingredients tested on animals. We only test on human volunteers as necessary for safety assurance and to support product claims. Only in vitro microbiological assurance testing is conducted. We require our manufacturers to comply with this policy irrespective of where they are located.
Do any of your suppliers test on animals?
We only source from suppliers who assure us in writing that no animal testing has taken place for cosmetic purposes. All cosmetic ingredient suppliers are obliged under the same regulatory requirements not to test on animals.
Do any of your products contain animal derived ingredients such as collagen, lanolin, beeswax, milk or honey?
Our Original Source range of toiletries is certified by the Vegan Society and has been since 2003. It therefore does not contain any of the above.
For our other brands we use honey extract in a few products. i.e. Imperial Leather Meadow Honey and Shea Butter Handwash.
Is Orginal Source sold in mainland China (excluding on line sales)?
We can confirm that we do not sell any Original Source products in to Mainland China
Does PZ Cussons Holdings (the parent company of PZ Cussons UK Ltd) sell any products into mainland China (excluding on line sales)?
We have a strict no testing on animal policy at PZ Cussons and therefore we never conduct animal testing or ask anyone to do it on our behalf on any of our brands in any country of the world.
We therefore limit our sales into China to products that require no animal testing.
We emphasize always to our distributors that we do not allow animal testing and they are not allowed to do animal testing on our behalf.
