The Mayhem's back!

The toughest, yet most rewarding, UK mountain bike challenge is back for its 14th year and promises not to disappoint.

With adrenalin-packed, family fun, camping camaraderie and the ultimate challenge for endurance warriors, it’s worth getting dirty for. It’s ORIGINAL SOURCE Mountain Mayhem, 2011.

Amateur or pro, this contest doesn’t discriminate – if you’re up for a challenge, then you’re welcome to join in the mayhem!

And if you’re not brave enough to go solo, you’re invited to participate as part of a four, five or ten-man team… and with a crowd of 15,000 spectators cheering you on, you definitely won’t feel alone in your muddy Mayhem experience.

For those not frightened of meeting the challenge, which can bathe you in sunshine or drench you in rain, take you through rough terrain and beautiful countryside; enthusiasts, experienced racers and ex Olympians alike are invited to participate in the event.

The challenging 24-hour race is part of the brand new ORIGINAL SOURCE Mountain Mayhem, a festival of events that takes place from 17-19 June 2011, kicking off with the inaugural ORIGINAL SOURCE running race which introduces a new discipline to Mayhem, inviting runners to join us for the weekend with a run around the nine-mile lap on the Friday evening.

This will be followed on the Friday night by the Bedtime Ride, a special event for younger Mayhemers who must be wearing their pyjamas to take part. Hot chocolate for all participants at the end!

After a good night's sleep the young Mayhemers will be ready to participate in the ORIGINAL SOURCE Saturday Morning Kids Race, organised especially for Mountain Mayhem by British Cycling.

Also on Saturday, anyone will be able to come along to the largest mountain bike demo in the country and try out all the latest bikes from the top manufacturers on the specially created Dirt Demo course, all for free.

And there's more! An expo village where you can shop 'til you drop, plus loads of free activities for all the family, not forgetting the Mini Mayhem bike skills course for the children.

On Sunday morning we will see the return of last year's highly acclaimed Sunday Sportive which gives the experienced and novice sportive riders alike the opportunity of riding through some of the most enjoyable countryside the UK has to offer.

What's more, visitors will be treated to a whole host of other ORIGINAL SOURCE Mountain Mayhem activities at the festival-style weekend. More info coming soon.

Entry forms for the 24 hour race can be downloaded here from midnight on 28th February 2011.

Entries cost £215 for teams of four-five riders, £291 for teams of 10 or £67 for soloist entry, which also includes a goody bag of freebies on the day and a medal for competing. Camping and spectator entry at the event is free. Entry info for the Friday night run and the Sunday Sportive will be announced soon.

...so who's going to be there?
