YOUR ORIGINAL SOURCE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM STORY:

We have a charity fund called 'The MTB Challenge Fund' and have raised over £16K over the past few years by doing various coast to coasts, 3 peaks by bike, Lands End to John O'Groats non stop by MTB and even this year doing a coast to coast wheelie. Last year was a big challenge for me as only a few months before doing mayhem solo I had to have reconstructive surgery after losing both my thumbs, I hope to be ableto compete and raise money for a long time to come at a youthful 48 years old.

YOUR ORIGINAL SOURCE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM STORY:

I originally got involved in Mountain Mayhem in 2006 and 2007 by helping out a few friends who made up an all girls team. In 2007 I couldn't resist in entering myself, as a soloist, and thouroughly enjoyed it. Had to miss out last year due to having a baby, but this year I'm hoping for a place as a soloist and hopefully in being successful, will be trying to raise as much money as I can for Ty Hafan, the Welsh children's hospice. We're blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl, some families are not.

YOUR ORIGINAL SOURCE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM STORY:

I first road Mountain Mayhem the day after my 18th Birthday. I endured the mud, rain and sweat to return the next year to complete it solo on my 19th Birthday alongside my father. I returned for a third year to drag myself around solo again with my father by my side. This is my forth year at Mountain Mayhem and for an unknown reason I will be standing by my dad on the start line to attempt solo again!!! Mountain biking is my passion and it is a welcome relief from my psychiatric nurse training.

YOUR ORIGINAL SOURCE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM STORY:

I have competed at mountain mayhem for the last four years in various teams, last year in 'Hanley Heroes'. This year to ring the changes I want to have a go at the solo event. I am doing it as a sponsored ride in aid of St . Michael's hospice in Hereford. They cared for my mother- in-law in the latter stages of her life and did a superlative job at making her comfortable so she could pass away peacefully and with dignity. As they receive no government funding and rely completely on charitable donation, I though I would do my bit and try and raise a few pounds for them. I aim to do 12 laps (weather depending) and my name is an obvious play on words - the hospice name, the event, and mounting my bike!
