British Military Fitness 5k challenge
Complementing the warning ‘your trainers will never look the same again’ is the assurance we will finish with ‘a smile on our face’, so I’m looking forward to the BMF challenge 2011. The North race is set in the ideal Prestwich Park and is easy to reach from across the North West. Original Source bobbed along to see how muddy we could get and to make sure everyone had a bottle of tingly natural shower gel in their goody bags when they had finished!
A thoroughly enjoyable, well run event from start to finish. Launching into a BMF style warm up on the start line and ending with a soapy slide to launch yourself over the finish line. One of the most fun events of its kind, we found ourselves running through woods, ditches, dark tunnels, streams at times (although this was more like swimming!) and all to the tune of the British Military Fitness guys screaming words of encouragement.
Competitors can pick between a 5 or a 10k course, so there is something for all abilities. The Military series is described as ‘tough’ but with the likes of hellrunner around, this is a more tepid affair.
Definitely one to watch, these races are set to grow with popularity, as are the BMF classes. Learn more about British Military Fitness here.
